Throughout the world, we strive to bring sustainability into our operations. We are committed to protecting the environment, providing a workplace that ensures the health and safety of our employees and making a positive impact in the communities in which we operate.

As a leading gas detection company, we believe we must set an example for the industry and our customers by holding ourselves to the strictest standards for environmental protection everywhere we operate. From recycling materials and used equipment to continually improving our environmental management system, we let our actions lead the way. See the Commitment to the Environment section below for more details.

Our business is saving lives, and this starts within our own operations. We provide our employees with the proper health and safety training, equipment and procedures so they can go home to their families every day in the same—or even better—condition as when they arrived at work. This commitment starts at the top, with health and safety as the first agenda item at every Executive Council meeting, without fail.

We understand that our approach to sustainability must extend beyond the walls of our facilities and into the communities that surround us. We support these local economies through the wages and taxes that we pay and the products and services we purchase from local suppliers.

It’s simple. A company that preserves human life also should protect the environment that supports it.

First and foremost, we comply with all applicable environmental laws and requirements of the countries in which we operate. Zero non-compliance is the goal.

We are certified to the ISO 14001 environmental management standard. Our environmental management system is at the core of our approach and supports our objectives and targets to achieve zero non-compliance, improve energy efficiency and reduce emissions, waste and freshwater use.

A major initiative is to minimize not only our waste but that of our customers.

We comply with the Waste from Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) directive that is aimed at reducing the amount of electrical and electronic waste going to landfills.

As such, we follow a cradle-to-cradle philosophy by recycling not only our own production waste but also returned and decommissioned gas detectors from our customers.

For Teledyme Gas Measurement Instruments, as a producer of industrial batteries under the Waste Batteries and Accumulators Regulations 2009, we are obliged to take back free of charge, waste industrial batteries supplied to an end user for treatment and recycling. If any of our customers or in certain cases other end users, require us to take back Industrial batteries, they should contact us at [email protected] or contact number +44 (0) 141 812 3211. Teledyne GMI will take back the following chemistry of batteries: Nickel Cadmium Batteries.

Our commitment to protecting the environment means we will never be satisfied with our performance. As such, we continually search for new ways to minimize our footprint and that of our customers through the processes we use and the gas detection products we make.
